Welcome to our online training!

August 20 – 22, 2021

“Sastipe. Facing prejudice” is our first project to face the consequences of quarantine restrictions. Dates, locations have changed several times …
2020, October, November, December … 2021 … June, July, August …

Finally, in August 2021, we gathered with young people from Ukraine, Germany and Slovakia to talk about the prejudices we face in our daily lives and how they affect our self-representation and self-identification.

An online event does not exclude the possibility to take a tour, visit an international event, or meet outstanding personalities.
To make this possible, together with the participants we created our own virtual museum, where they worked in mini-groups and could feel like researchers, designers, translators, guides.

The museum’s expositions addressed important topics – getting acquainted with Roma heroes, exploring memore places and memorials dedicated to the history of Roma genocide in different countries, as well as modern youth initiatives aimed at preserving historical memory and commemoration.

What does our heritage say?

Studying Roma history and culture is not an easy task, you will not read about them in school textbooks, you will not hear them at lectures at universities. And this is not surprising, because there is still little research on this topic, and the historical narrative is transmitted mainly within the community, orally.

To better understand how individual and group identities are formed, it is important to know what values unite people within a community. We asked our participants what they meant by “heritage” and asked them to share their values.

Memes ... Is this about activism ???

Non-formal education, youth activities and events face the usual challenge – how to keep information and at the same time make the presentation of the material interesting, modern and youthful. We gave free rein to the creativity of our participants and offered to implement the main messages of the training in a popular format. In response, we were asked to create activist memes. See for yourself what we got in result.
